LAGOS FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK 2017 FAVES || MY TOP DESIGNER PICKS FROM DAY 4 RUNWAY SHOW

Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week is officially over. The whole fashion week euphoria is beginning to fade and everyone is slowly adjusting back to their regular activities. The last day of the show had so many major highlights. From the most daring street styles, bigger runway showcases, a surprise performance by Mavin's First Lady, Tiwa Savage and the craziest after party concert with a sensational performance by the Nigerian born International artist, Jidenna. One thing is certain, we won't be forgetting this experience anytime soon.

Here are my top 6 Designers from Day 4 shows...

Christie Brown

The collection was a portrayal of a strong woman who is confident and in charge. The pieces were Victorian-inspired with a lot of structured exaggerated sleeves, skirt bottoms and perfectly layered pieces. I loved how she creatively combined different fabrics (velvet, Ankara, plaid, stripes and more) to curate individual pieces with each look conveying a very positive and powerful message.

Onalaja

One thing worth noting about Onalaja's pieces, they are always very simple yet elegant and always delicately tailored. I loved everything about this collection, from the colours, the designs to the tailoring. It was pure elegance.

Bridget Awosika

Bridget Awosika is one designer that never disappoints. I always look forward to watching her pieces showcase on the runway. This year her collection was a complete delight. It featured a lot of feminine pieces which had a very fun and playful vibe to it. I loved everything about this collection. From the use of bold and vibrant colours, the fabric selection for each piece, to the heart-shaped motif applique on some of the pieces and the simplicity of the designs. No doubt, this was one of the best collection of the night.

Gert Johan Coetzee

I was really looking forward to seeing the pieces by South African designer, Gert Johan Coetzee and trust him to deliver the perfect collection for the woman looking to make a statement on and off the red carpet. It featured a lot of glamorous and exquisite pieces. His use of lace, feathers, sheer and bodysuits revealed his understanding of the female body. The last dress from the collection wore by top model, Uju Marshal left everyone completely short of breath.

Imad Eduso

Imade's collection is your go-to when you want to look classy without effort. A collection that exudes class, perfect for the modern woman who feels confident about her body and isn't afraid to show it. The pieces were very feminine and sexy. The use of soft pastel colours and satin fabric added a sleek touch to the whole collection.

Maxhosa By Laduma

It was completely refreshing to watch models strut the runway in luxury knitwear. I loved how the creative director of South African brand, Laduma Ngxokolo took traditional Xhosa knitwear and transformed it into a more sophisticated wearable fashion piece. From cardigans, shorts, to dresses for ladies, socks and more. Every piece from the collection was beautifully curated.
